FIRE & SAFETY PROCEDURES
Your safety is our utmost concern. We have installed a comprehensive fire protection system and our staff has also been trained. However, your understanding of the hotel’s safety procedure is very important.
FIRE EMERGENCY
The Holiday Inn Express Cape Town-City Centre has installed a sophisticated fire alarm and smoke detection system that continuously monitors all parts of the building. Fire instruction notices are located on the back of all guest room doors. Please take some time to read the instructions and ensure that you have an understanding of where your room is located in relation to the nearest available fire exit.
Use the hotel internal phone and dial reception on Extension 9, or lift the receiver of the emergency phone situated next to the lift, which will connect you with reception. Clearly state the location of the fire giving the room / floor number nearest to the fire situation as a reference.
OR
Activate one of the fire alarm break glass systems situated directly next to the emergency fire exit, by pressing the white panel on one of the units. An alarm is automatically relayed to the fire panel, which pinpoints the location. A fire alarm will then be activated.
Do not fight any fires. Please remain calm and leave the area and the building, using the nearest fire exit. Do not use the lifts. Proceed to the designated assembly area, located outside the main entrance. Please follow all directions given by Hotel staff.
An initial fire alert alarm will ring for a few seconds.
Remain calm – the Hotel’s staff will investigate and you will be advised accordingly.
If, after the initial alarm and investigation by the Hotel’s fire team, there is a need to evacuate the building, the alarm will sound out a full evacuation message and the alarm will ring continuously. You must leave the building immediately, using the nearest fire exit. Do not use, or wait for, any Hotel lift, as they are automatically re-called to ground floor level and will not be operating.
On leaving the building, move quickly away and proceed to the designated assembly area, where the Hotel Management will conduct a roll call.
Please report all suspicious parcels or persons to the nearest security personnel or to any of our staff or managers. Please do not touch the parcels, or approach the suspicious person.
